Top 7 Rules For Having A Great Party

When you are getting ready for party planning, no matter the occasion, you are probably going to accept any tips that people have to offer you. If this is your first party to plan yourself, then you may need a little more guidance. Here are the top seven tips that will help you when you are planning a party.

Invite, Invite, Invite

You will need to consider the fact that less than half of the people you invite may actually show up to the party. Consider this when you are preparing a guest list so that you will have great turn out to the party.

Plan a Great Menu

Consider your menu options carefully. You will want to choose something that is common but still great. You also need to consider the guests as you plan the menu. For example, if you are having a party for kids you will probably not want to plan a menu that includes a salad and entrée. Pizza will suffice.

Choose Some Music

Music is a great way to set the mood for the party. It is especially a great idea when people are just starting to arrive. It kills the awkward silence that may occur at the beginning of any get together. Choose music that will set the mood that you are looking for.

Introduce Yourself and Others

If you are having a party in which everyone is new to each other, you will want to introduce yourself and introduce others that are at the party. This will help them to get to know one another and enjoy each other’s company while they are there. So many people do not really get to know people unless they are first introduced.

Start Eating Soon After Guests Arrive

You will want to start eating soon after everyone arrives. When you do this, you will avoid letting the food get cold. It also helps to keep the party moving. If you don’t plan to eat til later, then you will want to make sure that you have plenty of snacks out for people to munch on until it is time for the main course.

Decide on Favors

Not every party will require party favors, but it is nice to give them a little something to take home with them. It may be a party favor bag for a child’s birthday, or even just a small candle or other trinket for adults at a get together.

Have a Set End Time for the Party

This one is very important. If you do not want the party going on into the night, then you will want to have a set end time on the invitations. This will ensure that the guests start to leave without you having to initiate it. If you do not mind having an all night party, then you don’t really have to worry about setting an end time ahead of time. Just go with the flow and enjoy the party that you have planned.
